Hello!

Thank you for stopping by.

If you are new over here – welcome! My name is Dr. Danielle Reid and I am the visionary founder behind my learning solutions company called Science L.E.A.F. I have my doctorate in Environmental Health Toxicology. That’s just a fancy term for saying I am very passionate about keeping people safe from dangerous harms in our environment. Before getting my doctorate I got my masters degree in Industrial Hygiene. These professionals keep people (like you!) safe in the workplace.

How It Started

When I was young (kindergarten age) I wanted to be a doctor – just like my pediatrician. No one could tell me otherwise! I aced my tests in school. I played sports. I volunteered. I even got the academic scholarships needed to go to college. I just knew I was on my path to being a doctor. Or so I thought…

From Hurricane Katrina to ridiculously hard classes (ahem, calculus and physics I see you!) my dream of being a doctor was completely derailed. I graduated with a chemistry degree, poor MCAT score, and headed back home. After getting over the shock and confusion, I needed work but couldn’t land a chemistry job. I ended up working for various temp agencies . Yes, I had a 4-year degree but was absolutely not using it!

How Is It Going

Fast forward to today I can say I am beyond grateful that I travelled this journey. It wasn’t what I expected. I did not become a medical doctor. But I fulfilled my dream of helping people – just in a different way as an accomplished researcher. I’m still helping people today, sharing what I know about public health (and science), in totally unexpected, surprising ways.

Where I Am At

Nowadays I have three kids who are just as curious about learning like I was as a child. They stay asking questions and I love it! It takes us on a journey to discover how their learning could very well be connected to what their future career may be someday.

I have always had a passion to remind people your skills are transferable no matter what education path you pursue. This applies to my work at my company Science L.E.A.F and even as an educator mentoring undergraduate and graduate students in environmental health!
