Practical Ways to Keep Learning

  • Read our content about career readiness and how to navigate this stage as a career coach. You will find several resources to help you dive deeper into this topic.
  • Think about breaking down the daunting task of building a resume into smaller tasks using time management tricks and tips. Allocate time to create and update your resume. Use AI where it makes the most sense.
  • Similar to the resume building, have students practice strengthening their time management skills by allocating time to research the job market, review job applications, and (for older students) apply! As the adage goes: Let them tell you no! It never hurts to apply, see the outcome, and capture the learning lesson through the process.
  • Create some mock interviews or arrange for them to be set up to help prepare students for a job interview. Bonus: tell them in advance so that they use their time management skills to prepare and get ready for the big day!
  • Technically, students should be building their networking skills when they first enter the discovery stage, but it’s not to late to start here! Help students get out in the community and practice both building and maintaining a professional network.
  • Do not forget your community here to support you. Build a network of career coaches going through the same journey who can share tips to stay successful and empowered.

Think Skill Tools was founded by Dr. Danielle Reid. Having no choice but to hang up her lab coat as an Environmental Health Toxicologist and Industrial Hygienist, after having her first child, she pivoted into a space where she could have the best of both worlds – loving on her kids and serving others in the education sector. She dove head first into the world of educational content development and homeschooling. Walking in her purpose (and having fun with it!), she is on a mission to create resources that make career education (at home and in the classroom) the norm and way less complicated to navigate.
